 Former champions Neil Hodgson and Ryuichi Kiyonari head the star-studded entry for this year’s MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli which begins with the double race Easter Monday round on the short, but demanding Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

 Yamaha made a clean sweep of the podium yesterday, taking all three top spots in the Superstock 600 class at the opening round in Portimao. An action fuelled race saw French riders Jeremy Guarnoni and Romain Lanusse, both of the MRS Racing Team fight it out for the top two spots on their Yamaha Superstock YZF-R6s. Guarnoni eventually won out with his team-mate Lanusse crossing the line 6.1 seconds later. Lanusse took the second spot by just .1 of a second from Norwegian rider Frederik Karlsen also riding an R6 for the MTM Racing Team.

With the start of the season now less than two weeks away the on-track preparations of the Moto2 and 125cc riders and teams were finished at the Jerez circuit on Monday – the third and final day of the last Official pre-season Test.
The arrival in Superstock 1000 of the S1000RR was an immediately successful one, as Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia) took the win after race long rival Maxime Berger (Ten Kate Racing Junior) ran off track and lost 2.5 seconds on the final lap. 
Kenan Sofuoglu (Ten Kate Honda) won a thrilling Supersport race by 0.031 seconds from Joan Lascorz (Motocard.com Kawasaki) and Sofuoglu’s team-mate Michele Pirro.
